Houseplant tips for autumn

We all notice it, there is less light again, it is still dark in the morning, the sun is less high in the sky. That has an effect on us but especially on plants.

Plants go into dormancy from autumn, which means that they can stop growing and sometimes drop some leaves. During the dormant period, you give them less water than normal and no extra nutrition. It is better not to prune or repot them anymore, do this again in the spring. If you have plants next to or near the heating, it is best to move them. Most plants do not like all that hot and especially dry air at all. If you cannot move them, give them some extra water and also spray the plants more often because the water evaporates extra quickly here. (Cacti of course not;-)

If you have a plant in a corner that is now really getting too dark, you can also choose to place a growth lamp near the plant to help it through this low-light period. You can of course find the growth lamp in our store. The bulb has a standard E27 fitting and can therefore be screwed into a wall lamp that you already have. It also gives white/warm light so you can simply use the lamp as a room lamp. Can also be used if you want to put a plant somewhere completely out of the daylight. Don’t forget to turn on the light daily!
